On July 29, the “BRICS Go-Global Express” initiative created by the BRICS Industrial Cooperation and Go-Global Comprehensive Service Hub was officially launched. Its first event, the Nigeria-themed business matchmaking session, attracted nearly 200 participants, including representatives of Nigerian institutions in China, delegates from the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Nigeria, heads of enterprises intending to go global, and representatives of go-global service agencies.

Addressing the real-world pain points for enterprises expanding into Nigeria, this special session featured five thematic sharing sessions covering policy environment, landing carriers, practical experience, fiscal and tax compliance, as well as security assurance.

Hassan Mohammed, Trade Commissioner of the Trade Section at the Consulate-General of Nigeria in Shanghai, presented Nigeria’s business environment and opportunities. Yang Yang, General Manager of China-Africa Lekki Investment Co., Ltd., gave a comprehensive introduction to the Lekki Free Trade Zone. As an enterprise established within the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Jinmeng Daily-use Commodities Co., Ltd. shared on-site West-African-focused practices of Chinese-funded enterprises going global in a coordinated way. Wu Maiwen, Fujian Regional Head of Yande International, delivered a professional interpretation of Nigeria’s fiscal-tax policies and the design of investment equity structures. Hu Wenjia, Overseas Business Director of Zhongbao Huaan Group, shared insights on the security situation in Africa and security capacity-building for Chinese-funded enterprises.

The Comprehensive Service Hub served as the venue for the session and also became a major highlight. During the on-site tour, participants learned about its functional layout and resident institutions. A number of enterprises intending to go global held face-to-face negotiations with official representatives of Nigeria, industrial park operators and professional service agencies. The atmosphere at the event was lively.
