On May 22, the 2026 BPIC Training Program on Smart Manufacturing and Innovation-Driven Development (Spring Session) officially opened in Xiamen. The program is the second training session under the BRICS New Industry “Golden Egret” Excellence Scholarship (“Golden Egret” Scholarship). A total of 25 government officials, industry leaders, and academic experts from 14 countries including Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia took part in the program.

On July 6, 2025, at the 17th BRICS Summit, China announced the launch of “Golden Egret” Scholarship, designed to cultivate talents for BRICS countries in sectors including industry and telecommunications. In August the same year, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) Innovation Center officially rolled out the “Golden Egret” Scholarship and held its inaugural training program — the 2025 BPIC Training Program on Green Industrial Development and Digitalization, which earned wide acclaim.

The latest round of scholarship also drew an enthusiastic response from all sides. Over 500 applications were submitted from 31 countries, with 25 candidates ultimately selected, showing the rising influence of the “Golden Egret” Scholarship across BRICS countries.

Focusing on themes including smart manufacturing and innovative development, this 16-day training program will feature exchanges and site visits across Xiamen, Hangzhou, Shanghai and other cities, sharing China’s practices and experiences in advancing digital and intelligent development.

Adopting a model combining classroom instruction with corporate site visits, the program will organize participants to leading smart manufacturing enterprises such as Alibaba, Unitree Robotics and King Long Motor Group for inspections and exchange seminars. They also take part in events including the 2026 BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution and the BPIC Industrial Project Matchmaking Events.
