On July 6, 2025, at the 17th BRICS Summit, China announced the launch of the BRICS New Industry “Golden Egret” Excellence Scholarship (“Golden Egret” Scholarship) in support of capacity building in sectors related to industry and telecommunications among BRICS countries.

In response to the consensus reached at the Summit, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) Innovation Center (BPIC) formally launched the “Golden Egret” Scholarship. The initiative aims to advance the high-quality development of “Greater BRICS Cooperation” and to promote the Initiative for International Cooperation on New Industrialization. The inaugural training program was successfully held from August 27 to September 25, 2025, attracting 30 mid- to senior-level government officials, industry professionals, and academics from 22 countries, receiving widespread acclaim, and laying a solid foundation for subsequent projects.

As the second program under the “Golden Egret” Scholarship, the “2026 BPIC Training Program on Smart Manufacturing and Innovation-Driven Development (Spring Session)” will be held from May 21 to June 5 in China. This program will feature an integrated approach of “government, enterprises, academia, and research.” Participants will engage in lectures and interactive seminars on topics such as “smart manufacturing” and “innovation-driven development” in Xiamen, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. Through these activities, participants will gain valuable insights into the achievements and best practices from BRICS countries in digital transformation, smart manufacturing, and green low-carbon technologies. This immersive experience is designed to enhance exchanges and interactions, and to foster tangible, results-oriented cooperation that supports the advancement of “Greater BRICS Cooperation.”
