The 2022 BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest
In March, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the 2022 BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest to fulfill the following objectives: implementing the spirit of President Xi’s speech at the 13th BRICS leaders meeting, solidifying our partnership plans, promoting talent training and capacity building in the new industrial revolution and establishing an ecological system of collaborative innovation.
I: The Contest Theme
“Industrial innovations promote a more vigorous, greener, and healthier global development.”
II: Contest subjects
The contest is comprised of three subjects, namely industrial interconnection, intelligent manufacturing, and green & recycling. It centers on digitalization, networks, intelligence, and greening. To meet the current industrial development in innovations, we are calling for products, norms, and solutions that forcefully propel innovations in the new industrial revolution, create distinguishing effects in application and demonstrate a promising future in the market.
Subject I: Industrial interconnection. Focusing on the transformational demand and key issues in manufacturing digitalization, the contest keenly calls for innovative programs integrating manufacturing with new generation information technology such as 5G, digital twin, AI, block chain, and so on. Eagerly wanted are also solutions to industrial interconnection, especially those that can upgrade production capacity, optimize operational efficiency, assure the industrial chain and stabilize the supply chain.
Subject II: Intelligent manufacturing. It focuses on innovations integrating new generation information technology and advanced manufacturing technology, with an emphasis on smart reforming schemes that can upgrade precision and agility in mechanics, automobiles, light industry, electronics, and other sectors. Also wanted are new manufacturing modes and innovative solutions such as Internet based customized products, crowd sourcing designs, and cloud manufacturing.
Subject III: Green recycling. Focusing on low-carbon, circular and intensive development, and on building an efficient, clean, low-carbon and circular green manufacturing system. The call is for contributions of innovative programs and solutions in manufacturing green upgrading, product life cycle green management, plus energy-saving and low-carbon technology applications.
III: Requirements for the contest entries
All the works have to be original creations. They shall not infringe upon other people's patent rights, copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights, nor shall they violate any relevant national laws and regulations, otherwise the entry shall be disqualified.
