The First Plenary Session of Strategic Advisory Committee of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center Held in Xiamen

On the afternoon of November 15, the First Plenary Session of Strategic Advisory Committee of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as "SAC") was held in Xiamen. Zhao Changwen, Director of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center Strategic Advisory Committee, presided over the meeting. Members participated in the meeting online and offline. The successful organization of the meeting signified the beginning of the Committee's institutionalized operations.


During the meeting, the members exchanged views on the future development direction and cooperation focus of BPIC after the expansion of BRICS, how SAC can help the construction of the center around the three major tasks of BPIC, and put forward suggestions for improving the "Terms of Reference for the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center."

The Strategic Advisory Committee of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center (SAC) is one of the three-tiered structure of the BPIC. It is responsible for providing direction and strategic advice to the center. It comprises 33 leaders and experts from domestic and foreign governments, enterprises, and research institutions.

On November 16, the first official report of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center - "Report on the Innovation-Driven Development of the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution(2023):Towards the BRICS Countries" - was released at the BRICS Forum on Partnership on  New Industrial Revolution 2023.


Focusing on the innovative development of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution and the exploration and practice of the BPIC, the report, under the central theme of " Innovation for Common and Sustainable Development," reviews the impact of successive industrial revolutions on the late-developed countries, and analyzes the historic opportunities and challenges posed by the new round of industrial revolution. It answers the questions of what, why, progress, and problems of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution and puts forward relevant suggestions and recommendations.
